The Citizens Union of Trinidad & Tobago is not a trade union, it is not a political party, and is not a member or arm of any existing organisation.

What it is is a counter balance to public and private sector abuse, a platform for the unification of all Trinidadians and Tobagonians wherever in the world they may be, and for residents of Trinidad & Tobago wherever in the world they may come from.

It is also a marketing tool, a consumer club, and a means to benefits for all its members through focusing decision making and leveraging purchasing power.

The Citizens Union of Trinidad & Tobago is committed to improving the lives of all stakeholders in the national conversation and national community by focusing public intent and helping to shape political will while holding government to account for all levels of state and national management. The Citizens Union will also give citizens someone to turn to in times of need when all other avenues seem either non existent or non functional, and where possible, we commit to find a way or a resolution if a way or a resolution can be found.

It is our stated intention to use every lawful, law abiding means to accomplish these objectives, and we give assurances to all our members by this agreement that together we will not only be strong, but we will be responsive, and from that as a starting point, work together with all our members to leverage the best from all institutions of public service be they public themselves, private or otherwise.

Based on the premise that the wellbeing of each and every citizen is the function, role and reason for government, a union of citizens therefore has the natural authority if not the responsibility to hold the government to account especially in cases of clear mismanagement, incompetence or deliberate corruption. It can give strength to the democracy by giving a voice to the widest cross section of people, and because it transcends traditional politics, it will create that elusive platform where every creed and race can finally find an equal place, an equal voice, and an equal opportunity to speak their truth to those who hold power.
